What Are Teeth-In-A-Day?

If you have missing teeth and are looking for an effective way to get your smile back, Sherwood Oral Surgery has a great option for you.

Teeth-in-a-day is a convenient & efficient solution for patients with teeth loss. This dental implant procedure, also known as All-on-Four, allows patients to get their smile back in a single day. This safe and innovative procedure leaves patients with a new set of teeth that look and function like natural teeth.

Who is Suitable for This Procedure?

If a patient has experienced tooth loss, there’s a good chance they would be a candidate for teeth-in-a-day. This procedure benefits people who have no upper or lower teeth, or are experiencing a failing denture. It’s recommended that you have good oral health and sufficient bone volume to support the implants. If you don’t, don't worry. Bone grafting, a surgery that uses the transplanted bone to repair diseased bones, is an option for you prior to getting Teeth-In-A-Day. It is also important that you are not a heavy smoker or have any medical conditions that would affect the healing process.

Teeth-In-A-Day Benefits

The main benefit of Teeth-In-A-Day is that you can walk out of our office with a brand new smile in such a short period of time. You’ll be able to enjoy your favorite foods and drinks again without having to worry. Of course, your dentist will provide you with guidelines during the healing process following your treatment. It’s always best to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a full recovery and a long lasting smile.

With teeth-in-a-day, you’ll be able to speak normally and avoid gum irritation. Dental implants provide more stability than traditional removable dentures. Unlike dentures, you do not have to worry about them moving or falling out. You’ll be able to take care of your dental implants just like you would your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing will be key for the longevity of your new teeth. With diligent hygiene and regular maintenance, your dental implants can last a lifetime.

While there are many benefits, it is important to be aware of the few disadvantages of teeth-in-a-day. This procedure may not be for everyone, you may prefer dentures or a different type of dental implant. The expense of this procedure may be an obstacle for some patients. You may experience tender gums and trouble eating during the healing process. Your dentist will be able to walk you through the procedure and answer any questions you may have.

How Does the Procedure Work?

During your initial consultation, you will meet with an oral surgeon to determine if teeth-in-a-day is the right option for you. Before the surgery, your dentist will perform a complete oral examination. We digitally plan the implants and restorative procedures through a 3-D CT scan of your jawbone, facial photographs, and digital scans of your teeth. Computer simulations are used to determine the feasibility of the implants and their location. This planning allows us to create precise surgical guides to accurately place the implants in your desired location and properly connect a new set of teeth to the implants.

General or local anesthesia is used during the surgery. Following your surgery, our oral surgeons will check if the area around your implants is healthy and healing properly. Your implants and jawbone will eventually fuse after the procedure.

We are proud to offer this innovative and convenient procedure to the Danville community at Sherwood Oral Surgery. If you think teeth-in-a-day might be right for you, call our office to schedule a consultation.
